Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome & Flavors of the Carioca Night

Arrive in Rio de Janeiro and enjoy a smooth private transfer from the airport to your hotel in Copacabana. After check-in, take some time to relax and settle into the rhythm of the city.

In the evening, begin your cultural journey with a private Food Tour in Copacabana. Visit traditional botequins, local eateries, and neighborhood spots while tasting Brazilian snacks and drinks.

More than a culinary experience, this tour reveals how Rio’s food reflects migration, family traditions, everyday life, and the informal social culture that makes the city so welcoming.

Day 2 – Neighborhood Art & Everyday Life

Your first full day begins with a private visit to Christ the Redeemer, one of Brazil’s most recognized landmarks. Travel to the top of Corcovado Mountain by train and enjoy panoramic views over Rio de Janeiro.

Continue to Santa Teresa, a historic hilltop neighborhood known for its artistic atmosphere, colorful architecture, independent studios, and charming streets. Visit the Selarón Steps, the celebrated mosaic staircase created by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón.

In the afternoon, experience another side of Rio during a guided visit to Tavares Bastos Favela. Learn about community life, local initiatives, social projects, and the everyday reality of one of Rio’s hillside neighborhoods through a respectful and contextualized experience.

The evening is free for you to relax or explore Copacabana at your own pace.

Day 3 – History, Samba & Carnival Spirit

After breakfast, explore Rio’s Historic Downtown and Little Africa on a private walking tour.

Discover the places, people, and stories connected to the African diaspora, Afro-Brazilian identity, samba, religion, resistance, and the cultural development of Rio de Janeiro. Walk through historic streets and squares while learning how this region helped shape Brazilian music and culture.

Continue to the Carnaval Experience for a behind-the-scenes introduction to Rio’s world-famous Carnival. Learn how samba schools prepare their costumes and floats, discover the work involved in producing the parade, and understand the social and cultural importance of Carnival to the city.

Largo da Prainha, one of the most vibrant local areas in the historic center, is a suggested stop for lunch.

At night, feel the rhythm of the city during an authentic Samba Night in Lapa, accompanied by a local host. Experience live music in one of Rio’s most traditional nightlife districts and discover why samba remains such a powerful expression of Carioca identity.

Day 4 – Farewell or Gastronomy & Carioca Encounters

Standard Package – Enjoy your final morning in Rio at your own pace. Depending on your departure time, you may have time for breakfast, a walk along Copacabana Beach, or some last-minute shopping. Your private transfer will take you comfortably from the hotel to the airport.

Extended Package – Begin the day at a local street market, accompanied by a private guide. Taste tropical and exotic fruits, meet local vendors, and learn about Brazilian ingredients, culinary habits, and regional food traditions. In the afternoon, visit Sugarloaf Mountain and ride the cable car above Guanabara Bay. From the top, enjoy panoramic views of Rio’s beaches, mountains, neighborhoods, and coastline.

End the day like a Carioca at Mureta da Urca, a relaxed waterfront meeting place where locals gather for sunset drinks and views over the bay.

Day 5 – Farewell (Extended Package only)

Enjoy your final morning in Rio before your private transfer to the airport. Depart with samba rhythms in your ears, Brazilian flavors still on your palate, and memories of the stories, communities, and authentic human connections encountered throughout your journey.

Traveler Reviews

We had the most amazing private tour of Rio with Monique. Her passion for the city, its people and its culture is infectious, her intimate knowledge makes the tour so authentically Rio and we managed to skip lines and avoid the big crowds due to her organisation! She also took us to an amazing bar she has been going to for 13 years and the feijoada and caipirinhas were the best in the city.
If you want to experience the true Rio you neeeeeeeeed to do it with Monique!! A real highlight of our South America adventure. Check it out on Google Reviews.
