About This Tour
Discover Copacabana through one of Rio de Janeiro’s most beloved cultural traditions: the botequim. More than a food tour, this private walking experience offers a curated journey through the neighborhood’s bar culture, blending historic venues, classic Carioca flavors, local stories, and the relaxed social rituals that make botequins an essential part of life in Rio.
Over approximately three hours, visit four carefully selected bars, each representing a different chapter of Carioca botequim culture. Two stops are officially recognized as Carioca Cultural Heritage venues, while the others showcase classic and contemporary interpretations of Rio’s traditional neighborhood bar.
Throughout the tour, enjoy 8 to 10 curated food and drink tastings that showcase different sides of Rio’s bar culture. Your local guide will share the stories behind each venue, explain the traditions and social codes of the botequim, and introduce you to the flavors, drinks, and everyday rituals that Cariocas have enjoyed for generations.
This is not simply a tour of Brazilian food. It is a deeper introduction to Copacabana through the bars that helped shape its history and continue to define its social life today.
Private, relaxed, and full of local character, this experience is designed for travelers who want to eat, drink, and discover Rio the way Cariocas do.

Traveler Reviews
Our guide, Monique, was excellent. We traveled from the States and her English was impeccable. Very easy to understand and converse. She lives in the area, so knows all the great spots for locals. We loved getting to know those spots too. Local food and drink pairings at each location. We even got to stop at a “bonus location”, because one in our group wanted to try more local beer, so we stopped at a brew pub. Monique was very flexible as to what we were interested in, even though she had an itinerary already planned. I would highly recommend this tour. Check it out on Google Reviews.
