About This Tour

Embark on a one-of-a-kind journey that pairs Rio’s most iconic landmark Christ the Redeemer with the lush beauty of Tijuca National Park, one of the world’s largest urban forests. Since Christ the Redeemer is located within Tijuca Forest, this experience connects the monument and the rainforest in one seamless itinerary — ideal for travelers looking to experience Rio beyond the postcard, with a deeper connection to its landscapes.

Begin your day with a ride on the historic Corcovado Train, a charming ascent through dense Atlantic Forest to the Christ the Redeemer monument. As you ascend Corcovado Mountain, take in the scenery and hidden views of the city, and keep an eye out for occasional wildlife along the way.

After your visit to Christ the Redeemer, continue exploring Tijuca Forest’s key highlights. The experience can follow two different routes, depending on your travel style:

  • Scenic & contemplative route: a more complete itinerary through the forest sector, done entirely by vehicle, with curated stops for viewpoints, photo opportunities, and quiet moments surrounded by nature.
  • Active route (park visit + hike): an option that includes a park visit and the Pedra Bonita hike, ideal for travelers who want to add a more outdoorsy, active dimension to the day.

Some of the attractions you may visit during this tour include: Taunay Waterfall, the tallest waterfall in Tijuca Forest; Mayrink Chapel, a charming pink chapel featuring murals by renowned Brazilian painter Cândido Portinari; the Açude Museum, set in a beautiful mansion surrounded by nature and showcasing elements of Brazilian history and art; and the iconic Vista Chinesa Viewpoint, one of the city’s most memorable panoramic lookouts.

The tour can also include a lunch stop at a local restaurant near the park entrance. Let your tour guide or our team know if you’re interested, and we will coordinate it for you.

Traveler Reviews

I booked a private tour of Christ the Redeemer and the Tijuca Forest with Rio de Janeiro by Cariocas for my husband and my in-laws, who were visiting Brazil from the US for the first time. From start to finish, the experience was perfect.

Booking from the UK was incredibly smooth, with no issues using my international card. They coordinated with me via WhatsApp to customize the day for our group’s needs. Our guide, Lais, was fantastic; she was punctual, super knowledgeable, and had a great energy that kept everyone engaged. Since my in-laws don’t speak Portuguese, having a bilingual guide and an air-conditioned car made the whole day enjoyable and easy. If you want a stress-free, high-quality way to experience Rio, I can’t recommend them enough 🙂 Check it out on Google Reviews.

We had an excellent tour led by Alan, he was informative, friendly, and happy to accommodate all of our wishes.

We were so lucky to see a sloth in the Tijuca national park and to see Christo Redentor!

Pick up was on time, and all the staff answered all of our questions. We visited from Canada and highly recommend this agency and guide !
