About This Tour
Experience Rio at night like a local: walking through the streets of Lapa, stopping to taste cachaça, discovering the stories behind the neighborhood, and ending the night surrounded by live samba.
This private nightlife experience was designed for travelers who want to go beyond simply visiting a samba venue. Together with your local guide, you will explore Lapa as the neighborhood comes alive at night, combining its bohemian atmosphere, history, drinks, food, street life, and music into one immersive evening.
Your night begins at a classic cachaça bar in Lapa, where you will be introduced to Brazil’s most iconic spirit through a tasting of different flavored cachaças. It is a relaxed and very Carioca way to start the evening — and the perfect introduction to the stories, traditions, and social rituals behind Rio’s nightlife. From there, continue on foot through Rua Mem de Sá, Lapa’s main nightlife street, passing its lively mix of bars, restaurants, music venues, and people heading out for the night. Along the way, your guide will help you understand how Lapa became one of Rio’s most important bohemian districts and how its nightlife reflects different chapters of the city’s history and culture.
The walk also takes you past the iconic Lapa Arches, one of the neighborhood’s most recognizable landmarks, before continuing toward Rua Morais e Silva, home to a newer local bohemian scene that adds another layer to Lapa’s nightlife. More than pointing out landmarks, your guide will bring context to everything happening around you — from the evolution of Lapa and Carioca nightlife to the importance of samba as an expression of identity, resistance, celebration, and community in Rio de Janeiro.
The evening culminates at a traditional samba house and a favorite among locals who love live Brazilian music. Here, settle into the atmosphere, enjoy a typical Brazilian appetizer included in the experience, and let the live samba soundtrack the rest of your night.
The idea is simple: to make you feel as though you were spending a night in Lapa with a local friend who knows where to go, what to notice, and the stories behind it all — while enjoying the comfort, personal attention, and security of a completely private experience.
Come for the samba, but leave with a much deeper understanding of Rio’s nightlife, culture, and unmistakable Carioca spirit!

Traveler Reviews
We had the most amazing private tour of Rio with Monique. Her passion for the city, its people and its culture is infectious, her intimate knowledge makes the tour so authentically Rio and we managed to skip lines and avoid the big crowds due to her organisation! She also took us to an amazing bar she has been going to for 13 years and the feijoada and caipirinhas were the best in the city.
If you want to experience the true Rio you neeeeeeeeed to do it with Monique!! A real highlight of our South America adventure. Check it out on Google Reviews.
