How to get to the head of Christ the Redeemer statue

Imagine climbing up to the very top of the Christ Redeemer statue and have the most amazing view of the Marvelous City?

Well, it is possible, but it is not as easy as it seems as the climb to the top of the statue is not allowed for everyone.

Read this article and find out how to get to the head of Christ the Redeemer statue and have the most incredible experience of your life!

Requirements

To be able to get to the head of Christ the Redeemer statue is necessary to meet 3 requirements:

1 - The statue must be in maintenance or inspection period.

For you to go through the base of the statue where the chapel of Nossa Senhora Aparecida is located, it is necessary to have a scaffold installed. This only happens when the statue needs to undergo repairs or inspection, and it is very difficult to have access to this information (unless you know someone who works there).

2 - Authorization from the Bishop of the Catholic Church

The Christ statue is a sanctuary (the first open-air sanctuary in the world) administered by the Catholic Church. Therefore, you need special authorization from the Guardian of the Sanctuary and the Bishop to climb (which is not very easy to achieve unless you have a contact inside the Church).

3 - Availability of an employee to accompany the visit safely

To go inside the statue is necessary to go through 12 flights of very fragile stairs, in addition to strength and resistance as many stretches are very narrow.

There is a platform that allows you to walk on the arms of Christ. There are two openings on each arm so repairs can be carried out. To reach the head of the Christ it is necessary to go through his neck, which is somewhat narrow. The head has an opening that allows to have the most incredible view of the city of Rio de Janeiro possible.

Therefore, an employee needs to be available to accompany you safely.

Being able to meet these conditions in a single day, it is possible to fulfill your dream of seeing Rio de Janeiro at the same height as the eyes of Christ the Redeemer!

Important: We, from Rio de Janeiro by Cariocas Travel, do not make this type of visitation or mediate any communication for the visit. If you are interested in carrying out this experience, you should contact the secretary of Cristo Redentor Sanctuary directly for more information.
